Ghostbusters Mania: "Interviews Ghostheads" Sidney Okamoto of the Hawaiian Gb

Ghostbusters Mania is proud to present  N°23 (2012)  "Interviews Ghostheads" Sidney Okamoto of the Hawaiian GB

Hawaiian Gb, tell us about you. Who are you? What do you do? Do you have other hobbies?
My name is Sidney Okamoto, on gbfans i go by hawaiiangb. I sell chocolates as my day job for a company called Hawaiian Host Chocolates. I love doing figure kit modeling and prop building.

How was the passion for GB born?
my passion grew from just surfing the web in the late 90s and coming across the ghostbusters fan site. I followed the Norm Gagnon blueprints and made a pack and suit. That Halloween was the most fun i ever had. Since then the fever has run deep.

Why and when did you start to create your equipment?
As time went on and parts were identified and detailed, so did the need to make my props better.

We see that you've participated in many events. Which has been your favorite event until now and why?
My favorite event so far has been the hike up the inside of diamond head crater in full gear. We've done alot of charity functions and will continue to show up to events that request our help.

What does it mean to be a Ghosthead?
hmmm a ghosthead is one that truely loves ghostbusters with a passion. The true ghosthead will find him/herself quoting lines from the movie whenever a "trigger" event occurs.

Tell us about your group / franchise.
The individual members of the group had already built their equipment before a official club was formed. We kinda met through internet sources and agreed to meet for the first time at the 2009 video game release. So far our biggest event was at the rerelease of ghostbusters in the theatres. We had over 20 dressed up that night.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now we have about 6 hardcore members who attend almost every event. The next event coming up is our "gutbusters" event. We will be spending the whole day together and having breakfast, lunch and dinner at different famous eateries. In full gear of course. One thing about being on this island is the isolation and distance from many of the fun events that are happening.

Want to greet the fans around the world?
I would love to travel. I have met the Western Kentucky group. Ryan has a really good team out there. There is also my friend in San Francisco, Sam Schmucker. One of my favorite things to collect are franchise patches. We are soon going to have our second club patch and probably our second challenge coin early next year.

Wish list.
Dan Akroyd signing crystal skull vodka in honolulu. Meeting up with Ray Parker Jr. when he does his next jazz festival in Hawaii. Finishing a slime blower.

Thats all... thanks for reading till the end. Mahalo and Aloha!
