GBSite: Spook Central is having a special event this Summer

Spook Central is having a special event this Summer.  All throughout the month of July, and possibly the rest of the Summer, I will be posting Shot On Site articles on Spook Central detailing newly-discovered Ghostbusters filming locations.

Here's the schedule of when the articles will appear, each at Noon (Eastern) time. If a date has passed, then it's already on the site :-)

7/04 - GB2 Orrefors
7/09 - GB1 Reporter
7/12 - GB1 Flipped Ecto-1 Shot
7/16 - GB2 "Gracie Mansion"
7/19 - GB1 Wandering Louis Shot
7/23 - GB1 Undead Cabbie Scene
7/26 - GB1 Ray With Trap
7/30 - FDR Drive In Both Films

As of right now, I only have one more left to do: Chinatown. It encompasses two movie shots, one of which will be a bit tricky to do, so this one might appear by the end of the Summer.  If any new locations are identified - and I'm looking squarely at one of you when I say that - they will be done in August.

If the schedule is updated, you can find out at

GBSite: Spook Central - Ghostbusters PDF eBook Project

Spook Central:"IT HAS BEGUN! No, not Mortal Kombat - though the awesome 1995 flick did come out on Blu-ray this year - but rather a project I've thought about for years has officially begun here on Spook Central.

Back in 2008 when I was working on The Real Ghostbusters: Complete Collection DVD box set, I scanned in a bunch of my The Real Ghostbusters and Slimer! scripts and assembled the scans into PDF "eBook" files for inclusion in the set and on this site. That gave me the idea of doing the same thing, not only with the other scripts that I own for both movies and Extreme Ghostbusters, but also with the other Ghostbusters books in my collection. Not only would this allow me to share the vintage materials that I own, most of which would cost big bucks to buy the few remaining copies that are still out there, but it would allow me to digitally preserve materials that are no longer being published so that future generations could enjoy them.

Fan Art: Spectacular gallery Ghostbusters Birthday Cakes by Spook Central

Spook Central: A Google search for "Ghostbusters Birthday Cake" brought back so many results, that I was actually surprised by how many different cakes there were. Since I like to use these images to post on friend's pages for their birthdays, I thought I'd make a collection. Some images have been modified to keep them generic. Also, only images that clearly look like birthday cakes are included. This eliminates cakes shaped like proton packs, traps, and other unusual designs.
Send photos of your birthday cake GB!

GB3: I trust Dan!

Here's an audio clip (provided by The Dennis Miller Radio Show site) and a text transcription of what's said in it.

Dan Aykroyd on The Dennis Miller Radio Show (August 25, 2011) (Download)

Dan Aykroyd: Ah, yes, we will be doing the movie, and hopefully with Mr. Murray. That is our hope. We have an excellent script. And, uh, what we have to remember is that Ghostbusters is kind of bigger than any one component. Although Billy was absolutely the lead and was contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director, and Harold, myself, and all of us, Sigourney. You know, the concept is much bigger than each individual role. And the promise of Ghostbusters 3 is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood, because my character, Ray, is now blind in one eye, can't drive the Cadillac, [Dennis laughs] has a bad hip, bad knee, can't pick up the pack. Harold is too big to get... You know, Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation. So we'll absolutely be in production in the Spring, I hope.

Dennis Miller: Have you been eyeballing any young kids out there in the paranormal frontage? Maybe a Sam Worthington? Who do you see as the worthy aire?

Dan Aykroyd: I like this guy Matthew Gray Gubler from the Criminal Minds show.

Dennis Miller: He'd be great.

Dan Aykroyd: But it's gonna be a casting, we're gonna have. We're gonna see everyone that wants to do it. We need three women... and one woman and a man...

Dennis Miller: Zoe Saldana.

Dan Aykroyd: I mean, three guys and a woman. Three guys and a young woman. Yeah.

Spook Central: IDW Ghostbusters Monthly Comic #1 Solicitation & Covers

IDW just sent along the following solicitation, cover images, and preview pages for the Ghostbusters monthly comic series, issue #1, which comes out in September. As usual, IDW doesn't have much faith in the Ghostbusters brand, so they're putting out, if I'm reading it all correctly, a total of FIVE COVERS! Two regular covers and three variants, one of which will be a glow-in-the-dark version of (presumably) the Dan Schoening variant cover image... continue on Spook Central...
